A few tweaks here and there, and these guys could be a force to be reckoned with.
Cage9 – Illuminator
Alt Rockers Cage9 are ready to rock with their new release Illuminator.
Originating in Panama before relocating to Los Angeles, Cage9 have released 6 albums since 1993, including 1 in Spanish, they have toured with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Seether and Sevendust, and are highly regarded by Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson.
Illuminator contains some epic tracks, standout songs for me are “Everything You Love Will Someday Die”, a song that is very personal to vocalist Evan Rodaniche, who wrote the song in dedication to his father who passed away, it opens with a acoustic style Spanish guitar that leads into a dramatic hard and heavy swaying instrumental build up, the powerhouse vocals come in and strike quickly, this is an emotional song, full of heart and passion, and you definitely feel it in the lyrics, this has a ballad like feel but with an edge, it reminds me a lot of Avenged Sevenfold in style, which only helps Cage9 as it will open them to a wider audience.
I also really enjoyed “Death Of A Dragon”, which contains slow tempo guitars and mellow vocals throughout, their seems to be a strong theme of saying farewell on Illuminator, and this track adds to it, I love the gang vocal moments on the chorus and how heartfelt this is, it is a very radio friendly song and I love the use of Dragons in the lyrics, this song touched my heartstrings and brought a small tear to my eye, well done Cage9.
Illuminator feels like it is Evan Rodaniche’s way of getting his emotions out over the loss of his father, it has strong emotional songs and is truly cathartic, it really does stick with you and will also help you deal with any sadness you may have faced, thanks Cage9, you have genuinely made me remember the good times.
